Your Role and Responsibilities

You are a dynamic AI Engineering Manager who has a history of successful product ownership and growth. Your peers would say you are trusted to successfully weigh customer outcomes, business impacts, and functional tradeoffs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage a team of AI Engineers specializing in foundation models. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of cutting-edge AI solutions, with a focus on foundation models.

  • You will provide technical guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction to the team while ensuring successful project execution and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of AI Engineers working on foundation models.

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development support to team members.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages innovation, continuous learning, and personal growth.

  • Dynamic outlook: Facilitate an Agile team environment to maximize output throughout the product development lifecycle

  • Driving innovative development, with a roadmap that maximizes customer outcomes, and minimizes technical debt

  • Leading your product's strategy, by aligning across multiple stakeholders, delivering valuable outcomes, and realizing the product's intended impact

  • Project Management: Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define project goals, timelines, and deliverables. Ensure effective project planning, resource allocation, and risk management. Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and proactively address issues to ensure successful project completion.

  • Technical Expertise: Maintain a strong understanding of foundation models and related AI technologies. Stay updated with the latest research advancements and industry trends in the field. Provide technical guidance and support to the team, assisting in technical decision-making, problem-solving, and code review.

  • Team Collaboration: Foster effective collaboration and communication within the team and with cross-functional stakeholders. Encourage knowledge sharing, best practice adoption, and continuous improvement. Facilitate effective communication channels to ensure alignment on project goals, priorities, and expectations.

  • Talent Acquisition and Development: Participate in the recruitment and hiring process to build a high-performing team. Identify talent gaps, promote skill development, and create opportunities for professional growth. Provide regular feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and support the career progression of team members.

  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with stakeholders, including product managers, researchers, and business leaders, to understand their requirements and priorities. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure the team's work aligns with business objectives and delivers value to customers.

  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance development processes, methodologies, and tools to drive operational efficiency and quality. Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and standardization. Promote a culture of quality assurance and adherence to best practices.

  • Technical Strategy: Collaborate with senior leadership to define the technical strategy and roadmap for foundation models. Contribute to the long-term vision, goals, and innovation initiatives of the organization. Stay informed about emerging technologies and recommend strategies for their adoption.

  • Budget and People Management: Collaborate with senior leadership to manage team budgets, resource allocation, and procurement needs. Optimize people utilization, identify opportunities for cost savings, and ensure efficient use of available resources.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Education: Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.

  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience in managing and leading teams of AI Engineers or related technical teams. Experience in managing projects and delivering high-quality software solutions.

  • Technical Background: Strong technical background in AI, foundation models, and related technologies. Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and NLP libraries (e.g., SpaCy, NLTK) is highly desirable.

  • Track record of championing the voice of the customer, conducting customer-driven usability and hypothesis-driven experimentation

  • Deep passion and curiosity, with a desire to create innovative solutions, backed by data-driven insights

  • Experience driving product ownership and growth across the full product development lifecycle, with demonstrable examples of successful product discovery and launch

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate and manage multiple stakeholder relationships, relying on influence rather than authority, establishing a shared product vision

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically, analyze complex problems, and make data-driven decisions. Proven experience in aligning technical objectives with business goals.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership.

  • Mentoring and Coaching: Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop technical talent. Strong coaching skills to support the professional growth of team members.

  • Project Management: Experience in project planning, resource allocation, risk

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience implementing A/B testing at scale, tracking and diagnosing funnel metrics with a proven record of generating growth through analytics

  • Prior Product Management experience in an Agile development environment, driving large product growth on a cloud focused platform or product with exposure to DevOps / GitOps solutions, AWS, Azure, GCP, and/or Kubernetes

  • Proficient in spoken & reading Spanish/German/French/Portuguese language
