Learning Tree International Product Manager in Herndon, Virginia

Job Summary

Manage the research, development, implementation and lifecycle of technical and management training courses within the designated product line. Manage all consulting personnel involved in course development, maintenance, revisions (Authors, Technical Editors and others, as required). Support development of product line roadmaps utilizing market, customer, and competitive information. Conduct market research as necessary to support the product line. Establish and maintain relationships with accrediting organizations, content providers and strategic partners to support the product lines. Provide sales, marketing and operational support to the worldwide Operating Units.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development teams through all aspects of the product’s life cycle.

  • Develop, execute and manage project plans for the development of new courses in a timely and cost efficient manner.

  • Manage all deliverables from project plans.

  • Hire and manage course authors, technical editors, instructional designers and other course development consultants.

  • Ensure that course content and context is appropriate for local usage (e.g., ensuring ‘Americanisms’ are removed from course content used in the UK, Sweden, and/or Japan).

  • Develop Go-to-Market strategies that position products to drive sales demand.

  • Provide guidance and direction to marketing staff in the development and presentation of marketing strategies and tactics that support overall product/program objectives.

  • Negotiate and establish relationships with vendors for course hardware and software.

  • Introduce new courses to the worldwide operating units and communicate the product and implementation information necessary to support the new product.

  • Develop and manage course revision schedules to ensure course content is up to date, running the latest software and hardware and meeting attendee expectations

  • Manage the budget for the product line.

  • Supervise the development and revision of course marketing materials to ensure alignment with course content.

  • Research emerging technologies as part of product line roadmapping exercises; recommend new products for introduction.

  • Manage additional department projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or other appropriate discipline; a Master’s degree in Business or related field desired.

  • Four or more years in product management position demonstrating the ability to work independently and set priorities while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Experience managing a product through its life cycle in a high volume sales environment.

  • Experience in partnering with Marketing and Sales in the development of Product positioning, go to market strategies and downstream communication vehicles and collateral.

  • Experience working with computers, operating systems, networks, and/or software development methodologies and languages.

  • Ability to lead a development team towards an end goal/product.

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Substantial experience with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
