Position: Digital Content Producer, Bell Media

Location: CTV Kitchener, ON

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Will include working evenings and weekends. Overtime as required

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the station’s overall digital presence, including non-news related content such as information and features that will drive additional audiences and revenue

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the station’s digital audience

  • Identify, research, and write news stories and headlines for all digital platforms

  • Vet content to ensure it conforms to the station’s standards and Canadian Press style

  • Stay on top of breaking news, ensuring fresh, relevant content on the site and timely distribution of breaking news alerts

  • Edit, package and publish video content for CTV News Digital to serve all news platforms

  • Drive the station’s social media strategy in consultation with the editorial team

  • Support LIVE digital channels

  • Curate an increase in digital only features, such as high-impact image galleries, traffic, weather, radio and community site sections

  • Publish UGC (user generated content) multimedia content (i.e. viewer submissions/MyNews)

  • Curate sponsored content sections of the website

  • As an integrated member of the news team, participate in assignment & line-up decisions and writing of stories for the newscast

  • Liaise with news, promotions, IT & sales to create and maintain vibrant web presence

  • Monitor 105-3 Virgin and 99.5 BOUNCE digital properties for opportunities in cross promotion and development

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Three years’ experience in online news production with a relevant University degree or comparable college diploma

  • In-depth knowledge of local, domestic and international news and current affairs

  • Excellent writing and copy editing skills, plus knowledge of CP Style Guide

  • Demonstrated news and editorial judgment, clear and concise writing ability and an excellent command of the English language

  • Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high-pressure, deadline oriented environment

  • Knowledge of broadcast and / or digital video editing software, preferably Harris or Avid systems

  • Knowledge of news management system, preferably iNews

  • Ability to identify and master social media trends

  • Knowledge of Photoshop

  • Knowledge of web design preferably AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) and Polopoly

  • Ability to make independent editorial decisions

  • Ability to work in and lead a team, motivate staff and personally set the highest professional journalism standards

  • Experience in digital content design, development and production

  • Graphics design experience an asset

  • Knowledge of the CTV Kitchener coverage area

Job Location: Canada : Ontario : Kitchener

Work Arrangement: Full-time in office (meaning that you will be required to perform your work on-site)
