The Equipment Engineering Team drives Raytheon Technologies’ competitiveness in optical components, assemblies, and systems now and in the future. We are responsible for performing all equipment innovation, selection, troubleshooting and maintenance to lead the organization in delivering a quality product on time, at or below cost, in a safe environment.

An opportunity currently exists within the Operations Repair& Maintenance Team for a Technical Support Associate. The successful candidate will be directly involved in proactively addressing equipment needs of the factory by working with engineering and maintenance teams to successfully perform daily operations and maintenance activities. This includes maintenance of equipment, machinery, and other functions specific to the Optics manufacturing. This individual will be responsible for complying with health and safety standards in the community and adhering to OSHA and other federal guidelines.

Job Duties include:

• Collaborating with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, & Quality business leadership and all Optics CMC functions and proactively addressing equipment needs to meet current and future business needs.

• Enabling the factory to execute to these needs on time and at or below cost in a safe environment by

o Creating innovative solutions for improving equipment uptime and process times, including the design and creation of custom hardware and software as needed.

o Working with facilities and engineering teams to lead installs of new equipment and upgrades of existing equipment.

o Modeling Raytheon values, customer focus, solution oriented, excellence in execution and a sense of urgency and encouraging the same within the rest of the organization.

• Tests, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, and installs a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, computer, laboratory, and scientific systems and/or equipment.

• Maintaining the equipment and resources across four factories in one location: Optical Fabrication, Diamond Point Turning, Optical Coating and Assembly/Test.

• Collaborating with and working alongside a team of experienced equipment technicians to identify equipment, machinery, and other functions specific items that through normal production, calibration or preventative maintenance activities are in needed of correction.

• Utilizes various engineering and scientific drawings, manuals, and other related documentation in the performance of their tasks.

• Upgrading and modifying production equipment

• Procuring and installing new capital equipment.

• Participating in factory equipment layouts.

• Maintaining equipment documentation pertaining to Preventive Maintenance / Lockout - Tagout Procedures / Equipment inventories.

Required Skills:

• Minimum of 8 years of professional relevant experience in equipment maintenance in a production or factory environment. Background in electronics, mechanical aptitude, ability to solve complex technical equipment problems and strong troubleshooting skills.

• Experience in the repair and maintenance of automated equipment.

• Ability to work from schematics, written procedures, and oral instructions.

• Must be able to interface with persons of multiple disciplines and job functions.

• Experience with multimeters, current probes, and various test & measurement instruments.

• Flexibility to work 2nd and/or 3rd shifts when/if needed. Desired Skills:

• Proven history of demonstrating initiative, persistence, and creativity in problem solving

• Prior experience with Optical Coating (vacuum) and Diamond Point Turning equipment.

• RF Power systems experience.

• High voltage experience in 480, 208 3-phase, 110 and DC voltages

• Understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) and ladder logic.

• Ability to lead modification or upgrade projects of existing equipment.

• Excellent oral and written communications with ability to work with minimum direct supervision.

• Ability to collaborate and influence development of project objectives and goals with external customers and internal stakeholders.

• Knowledge of the optics industry.

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

• Operates well as part of a team and can work overtime on occasion. Required Education: Associates Degree
