University of Rochester TAR Chaplain, SMH in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

General Description

The TAR Chaplain offers spiritual/religious care to patients, family and staff in all areas of the hospital to all age groups when on-call overnight or during the day and participates in other departmental activities when possible. While they function on a per diem basis, the scope of their involvement can expand to participants in the Clinical Pastoral Education program as orienteers for new students and serving as back up as the administrator on-call in the event the Director and the Associate Director are unavailable.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Offers spiritual support to patients, families and staff during on-call shifts and when covering the on-call pager during the day.

  • Follows-up on all referrals that might be left from the day shift and the Consult List in eRecord.

  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with members of the interdisciplinary team in relation to patient/family support.

  • Documents spiritual assessment and interventions in the patient’s medical record.

  • Assists in orienting new CPE students.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • The person who occupies this position must have an MDiv from an accredited seminary or equivalent education as it relates to their religious/spiritual body required.

  • The person must have completed at least one unit of ACPE/Clinical Pastoral Education required.

  • The person must be able to be a source of spiritual support to patients and their families (e.g. partners and significant others), be comfortable in using technology in writing patient notes and complete ongoing hospital training, and have experience working in a team based environment required.

  • Board Certification as a chaplain with APC, NACC or NAJC preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $22.59 - $31.63 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
