Job Description:

This position is in the Defensive Equipment and Armored Vehicle Division, Office of Physical Security Programs, Bureau of Diplomatic Security to provide quality assurance inspection and analysis support for the Armored Vehicle (AV) Program at the U.S. Department of State to measure contractor’s performance, schedules, controls, and industrial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Review and inspect re-installed components and electrical systems to identify any equipment defects.

  • Reviewing safety systems to OE specifications

  • Experience in restoring safety systems to OE specifications

  • Experience with OE automotive software installation

  • Knowledge of wire and connection installation and repairs

  • Calibrating Advanced Safety System Components that include cameras, radar, Adaptive Cruise, Lane Keeping, etc.

  • Ability to review and understand contract technical specifications.

  • Monitor operations to ensure that they meet production standards.

  • Inspect, test, or measure materials being manufactured.

  • Provide detailed inspection results, notating unsatisfactory work.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of Automotive Service technician experience

  • Electrical Diagnostic experience

  • Ability to interpret and apply manufacturer's repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics and engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, and safety manuals; and the ability to operate electronic test equipment.

  • Problem-solving skills with an electrical aptitude

  • Automotive Tech School degree or equivalent preferred

  • Strong oral communication skills to facilitate the discussion of contractual specifications.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies.

  • Strong organizational skills in order to plan each phase of an inspection and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Shall be proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project as well as with Adobe Acrobat.

  • Travel required up to 75 percent annually.

  • Frequently stands, bends, stoops, crawls and works in tight spaces.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.

The likely salary range for this position is $88,275 - $115,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
