SUMMARY

Responsible for providing financial operational support to the Bon Secours Mercy Health Medical Group located within the Youngstown & Lorain markets. Assists the executive team by providing financial analytics to support strategy, implementation of the annual operating and capital budgets and assists the facility teams and Market Leadership in achieving the developed goals.

Primary focus of this role will be supporting Physician/APP compensation, call pay, and helping to prepare monthly financials & annual budgets.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • In conjunction with Divisional planning and financial services leads hospital strategic planning and budget process to accomplish business unit goals.

  • Operationalizes the budget by gaining alignment on the goals with the leadership teams. After completion of the budgets, works with site financial teams in adhering to the labor, financial and strategy goals. Completes proforma analytics for strategic projects and new capital investments and timely monitors project's spending to adhere to budgets.

  • Develops plans to train hospital staff and management team on financial operations. Develops monitoring tools to be used by facility leadership in training and auditing department level activity.

  • Leads monthly review of financial statements to ensure completeness, accuracy and relevance. Works to improve the net patient revenue through working with the revenue cycle process at each facility following Mercy Health's policy and procedures.

  • Utilizes daily labor management metrics to ensure cost containment and effective staffing levels. Assists in the month-end close process as a liaison between General Accounting and the facilities to ensure accuracy and validity of financial statement information.

  • Responsible for achievement of the operating financial plan (OFP). Identifies trends within the facilities and communicates findings to market and facility leadership teams. Develops improvement plans when necessary and communicates plan to all levels of the organization.

  • Responsible for CHAN auditor coordination with the facilities and for the effective completion of tasks taken in response to the audit findings.

  • Supports the facility financial teams by filling in on-site during vacations and vacancies.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • 4 year/ Bachelors Degree in Finance, Business or relevant discipline (Required)

  • Graduate Degree (Masters) (Preferred)

Minimum Years and Type of Experience:

  • 2-5 years experience in finance or similar field (Required)

Combination of post-secondary education and experience in lieu of a degree.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft office products with high proficiency in MS Excel.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment that requires quick turnaround and attention to detail.

  • Self-starter able to proactively navigate through various areas and hierarchies to accomplish position goals.
